Behind The Design
Kleiner Perkins Caufied & Byers (KPCB) has funded many of the leading Silicon Valley companies, including Amazon, Google, Intuit, Genentech and Zynga. KPCB provides a temporary workplace for start-ups it funds and that rarely have office space. Previous to the remodel of this incubator space, perimeter offices blocked daylight to the interior spaces, while the lay-in ceiling and high-paneled workstations made the space feel dark, claustrophobic and discouraged collaboration.
Newly funded firms come and move-up frequently, so flexibility was of paramount importance. Interior design solutions opened the space to the windows, removed the ceiling, provided mobile work
